David Nájera Trio is a Brooklyn based contemporary jazz trio featuring Nate Liebert on guitar and Sebastián De Urquiza on bass.

 

The project was born from the desire to share original music and arrangements of jazz standards in a dynamic and optimistic light.

David Najera

David Nájera González is a Mexican drummer, composer and educator currently based in NYC. Since his childhood, a strong gravitation towards music has acted as a driving life force.

He has a master's degree from Queens College where he was mentored by Dennis Mackrel (Count Basie) and has shared the stage with Matt Lavon, Julia Chen, Will Slater, John Gray, Sebastían de Urquiza, Hina Oikawa, Nate Liebert, and Javier Madrazo.

The trio has played in both prestigious and local venues such as The Weill Terrace Room at Carnegie Hall and Lea Brooklyn. In the summer of 2023, they hosted a weekly jam session at Bushwick Triangle.

Nate Liebert

Nate Liebert is a NY-suburbs native guitarist, songwriter, composer, and producer. Since beginning his career at age 14, he has played all around NYC and the Hudson Valley, and got his degree in Jazz Performance: Guitar at SUNY New Paltz in 2019.

He moved to NYC in 2022 where he leads his own bands and plays as a sideman for various up and coming artists, blending his favorite styles across cultures and generations. His approach to music is centered around his values of positivity, self acceptance, and freedom. 

Sebas de urqiza

Sebastián De Urquiza was born in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) in June 1992, but soon moved to Argentina where he was naturalized Argentinian. 

 

 In 2019 he was selected by “Focus Year” to be part of the 19/20 band in Switzerland, and learn from some of the best jazz musicians.

He played on the main stages of Argentina along with renowned national musicians of the genre, and also along with international musicians like John Stowell (USA), the singer Dena DeRose (USA), José Reynoso (Uruguay) and the sax player Rick Di Muzio (USA).
